MIL-D-85859(AS)
3.3.3 Interchangeability. The distribution box shall meet the
interchangeability requirements of MIL-T-28800. Drawing 1036AS3000 shall be
standard for measuring interchangeability of all applicable units,
assemblies, subassemblies, and parts.
3.4 Design and construction. The distribution box shall be manufactured in
accordance with Drawing 1036AS3000, except that errors of omission or
commission on the drawings may be incompatible with the requirements of this
specification.
In any case, it is a condition of final acceptance that the
equipment manufactured shall meet all the design, construction, and
workmanship requirements of this specification.
3.4.1 Reliability.
3.4.1.1 Operational stability. The distribution box shall operate with
required performance, continuously or intermittently, for a period of not
less than 1000 hours. During this time, it shall not be necessary to
readjust any controls that are inaccessible to the operator during normal
use.
3.4.1.2 Operating life. The distribution box shall have a total operating
life of not less than 10,000 hours with minimal servicing and replacement of
parts.
3.4.1.3 Reliability in mean-time-between-failures (MTBF). The distribution
box shall have a specified mean (operating) time between failures of 800 hours
when tested in accordance with 4.5.3.
3.4.2 Maintainability. Maintainability provisions shall be incorporated
within the design to provide for service, access, and repair of all
assemblies. The replacement of major components within the distribution box
shall be accomplished without the need for special tools. Normal routine
testing of the distribution box shall be accomplished using the standard
test equipment normally available in intermediate maintenance shops.
3.4.2.1 Mean-time-to-repair (MTTR). The mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) of the
distribution box shall be not greater than 2 hours when replacing circuit
modules, plug-ins, assemblies, and parts that are intended for replacement
at the intermediate level. Only where design changes shall cause significant
deviations from procuring activity drawings, shall a prediction of MTTR be
made in accordance with MIL-STD-470 and MIL-HDBK-472, Procedure II, and
shall be demonstrated in accordance with 4.5.3.
3.4.3 Transportability. The distribution box shall be transportable by
air, rail, truck, and ship when packaged as specified in section 5.
3.4.4 Standard conditions. The following conditions shall be used to
establish the normal performance characteristics under standard conditions
for performing laboratory bench tests:
Room ambient (30
10°C).
a.
Temperature
b.
Altitude
Normal ground.
c.
Vibration
None.
