MIL-I-81987(AS)
(2)
C-MSG -The control message (C-MS G) mode is a
secondary mode of operation in which the test set displays
42 data bits of any control message on the 42 bit binary
readout. The test set operates on the RCVR Data input from
an SM511A/ASW in this mode and appropriate selection
of A/C address thumbwheel switches and label seIect
switches determines the control message to be displayed.
(3)
Bench -1 - The Bench-1 mode, as the name implies,
provides a capability of testing a Data Link terminal by
d i r e c t cabling, i.e., bypassing the SM511A/ASW and the
Data Link transmitter/receiver. In this mode the Radio
Message Data Input signal (control message) is provided to
the Data Link by a buffered signal from the Stored Message
Generator. The test set then operates on the Radio Message
Data Output signal (Reply Message) from the Data Link
and processes reply messages as in the R-MSG mode.
(4)
Bench -2 - Provision in the design shall be made to expand
the Indicator Monitor capability to include the Bench-2
mode . In this mode the test set would receive a Demand
Pulse from the AN/ASW-27B and clock out a serial control
message from the Stored Message Generator. Upon receipt
of a Frame Available Pulse from the AN/ASW-27B, the
test set would clock in serial reply data, process, and display
the reply data as in the R-MSG mode. The serial data
transfer rates would be determined by the test set timing and
would be approximate y 320 KHz.
(5)
BIT- 1 - The BIT-1 mode shall provide sufficient built-in-test
to indicate to the operator that the unit operates properly in
the C-MSG mode with 8096 confidence. Up to five messages
from the Stored Message Generator may be used to accomplish
this built-in-test mode.
(6)
BIT- 2 - The BIT-2 mode shall provide sufficient built-in-test
to indicate to the operator that the unit operates properly in
the R-MSG mode. The BIT-2 shall verify reply message
conversion and display near zero scale of RO, R1, R3A, R3B,
and R3C reply messages. Messages from the Stored Message
Generator may be used to accomplish this built-in-test mode.
